RYLANDS extended their winning run to four in the Cheshire Cricket Alliance Division Two on Saturday at league leaders Maritime.

Batting first on a difficult track, the Gorsey Lane club took advantage of some sloppy cricket from the hosts and quickly put on 56 runs before the loss of the first wicket.

Bowling changes by the home side then caused havoc amongst the Rylands batsmen and they were quickly bowled out for a disappointing 101, with Richard Buck’s 36 the only score of note.

Maritime thought the job was done, but they had not reckoned on the unplayable swing of Adam Peters who took six wickets for just 16 runs.

The seam movement off Maritime's minefield track for debutant Andy Thomas saw him bag 4 for 12 as the last wicket fell on 69.

Maritime are now seven points ahead of Rylands.

In Division Four, the seconds held out for a draw at home to Capenhurst.

Batting first the visitors were bowled out for 141, with Tim Taylor, 5 for 47, picking up his first five-wicket haul of the season.

Bob Wright, 3 for 27, continued his form with the ball and some outrageous catching from Jordan Carroll all contributed.

With 142 the victory target the home side appeared to be cruising, thanks largely to a dashing 79 from veteran Andy Mansfield, but his departure triggered a mini collapse.

It fell to Rylands' last wicket pair of Taylor and Tillakaratne Jones to hold on for the draw and a share of the points.
