Rylands Sharks 22 Haresfinch 10

RYLANDS Sharks showed what they are capable of in a win over Haresfinch on Saturday, according to coach Matt Wilson.

They overcame a strong and experienced Harefinch side who started the game in the play off places.

"It’s extremely pleasing we finally had a full squad to pick from and we just went out there and played the way we have been asked," said Wilson.

"The first 10 minutes I don’t think anything went right and given our current form and league position the guys could of just thrown their towel in, but they didn’t.

"They got back in the arm wrestle and dominated throughout. That’s what we are capable of and why I knew we could compete in this league.

"The key now is to kick on and start to climb that table."

With only eight minutes played, Sharks found themselves 10-0 behind and loose forward Craig Harris was sin binned for decent.

But man of the match prop forward Matt Taylor came galloping on to a short ball from Chris Meacock to step the full back and score between the posts , before full back Jack Lewis finished off a flowing move to gain a half-time lead.

Sharks needed big defensive efforts with prop forwards Chris Dean and Taylor and second row Anthony Beckett keeping Haresfinch pinned in their own quarter.

Then with 10 minutes left Sharks found space on the right through centre Carl Lloyd, who found his winger Luke Gillooley to brilliantly cross in the corner.

As Sharks looked to close the game out with a drop goal, prop forward Taylor again found space to barge his way over the line and give the Gorsey Lane men the points.

Best for the Sharks were prop forward Matt Taylor, debutant Anthony Beckett and hooker Sean Boyle
