Eagle Sports 2 BRNESC 1
EAGLE Sports progressed through to their first Liverpool CFA Challenge Cup semi final after a 2-1 victory over BRNESC at Thornton Road.
Eagle had the best of the opportunities in the first half, however, the visitors threatened on the counter attack with Neil McDermott making a good low save from a deflected shot.
The second half brought the game’s goals, with the home side taking the lead when Lee Boardman whipped a free-kick from 25 yards into the top corner.
BRNESC responded well and grabbed an equaliser when Sports failed to clear a corner.
But it was the home side who took the initiative when Danny Nixon delivered a driven cross which was met by Rob Hope, who powered a header into the corner.
It set up a semi-final clash with Liverpool County Premier League leaders Waterloo Dock on Saturday, March 7, kick off 2pm.
