Bolton 2nd 0 Lymm 2nd 41
LYMM remain hot on Warrington’s heels at the top of North West Intermediate League Division One following this convincing win.
They took the lead almost immediately when their hosts conceded a penalty, Rhys Jones converting from 30 metres.
Last-ditch defending by Bolton kept Lymm out for the following quarter of an hour before Dan Horton burst through two tackles to score the visitors’ opening try.
His side kept the pressure on, claiming another two tries before the break through Aaron Rashid and Sam Gough, both converted.
Trailing 24-0 at the break, Bolton raised their game afterwards.
However Lymm’s defence held firm even when going down to 14 men when Adam Halford went off with a bloody nose.
On his return, the away team reasserted themselves and from a loose clearance Jack Whorton struck a drop kick that sailed between the posts.
Lymm continued to press and Darren Norman charged down a clearance kick for Richie McEvoy to reach the rebound first for a converted try.
In the final play of the game Norman eluded several defenders to score another converted try.
Christleton 74 Lymm 3rd 5
LYMM thirds were hit with a heavy defeat at Christleton in Division Three South on Saturday.
Their only try came from perseverance throughout the game, with John Lawson crashing over following a scrum five metres out.
