Abraham De Groot, from Croft, and Stephen Johansen, from Penketh, raced in a four-hour endurance event in VW Beetle ‘look-alikes’ comprising a racing chassis and modern VW engines.
Starting 12th, they made steady progress to lead by lap 131.
Still in the lead on lap 167, fresh rain made the track slippery sending them onto the gravel.
They got back on track after losing four laps and crossed the finish line after a gruelling 180 laps in 13th.
