Warrington Wolves u16 16 Wigan Warriors u16 50

WOLVES' fourth match of the season was played at Wilderspool against Wigan.

The match was hard fought from start to finish, however the young Wolves side weren’t able at times to match the intensity of Wigan.

After a close first half, Wigan pulled away in the second; however the Warrington team kept trying and fighting until the final whistle!

Try scorers for Warrington were Ben Stansfield, Kieran Roache, two, and Dan Norman.

Coach Ben Povey said: “In rugby league you sometimes come up against a team that simply out-muscles you and that happened on this occasion.

"We had a relatively young team out and we really struggled to contain what was a very big, physical Wigan side.

"We have no complaints about that and we will, again, work hard to better ourselves and keep the upward trend we are seeing in our play each and every game.

"I thought our attack was, at times, outstanding and I am really encouraged by some individual performances, but hats off to Wigan they played some great rugby and were very worthy winners.

"We will stick to our policy of giving both 15s and 16s a shot in this team, and what better way to test yourself in defence than taking a trip to Cumbria. We can’t wait for our next test.”
