Fourth successive win leaves Division Two leadership shared with Timperley

WARRINGTON are joint top of Vivio Cheshire County League Division Two this week.

It comes on the back of a fourth successive victory, leaving them tied on points with Timperley.

Saturday’s victims were Stockport Georgians, who fell to a seven-wicket loss.

Stockport, after winning the toss, elected to bat and were off to a steady start but nagging accuracy from Kyle Adams, 4 for 39, and Matt Adams, 1 for 20, never let them take command.

That set up the spin bowling of Rob Magee, 1 for 47, and Sam Baxter, 2 for 27, to close the home side’s innings on 141 for 8.

Warrington started badly in reply, losing Chris Kirby in the first over.

The poor start continued at 28 for 3.

Paul Farrar, 65 not out, and Mike Rudd, 50 not out, saw Warrington home without further loss.

n WARRINGTON’S second XI drew with Oxton.

Put in to bat, Warrington had a steady start until Brendan Morris, 69, took command in 202 for 6 declared.

Oxton reached 12 for 1 before the rain came.
