BRIDGEWATER High School’s year nine basketball team are celebrating success after romping to victory in the National Schools Final in Nottingham.

Joe Cummings won the most valuable player award and Max Jones had an outstanding tournament, averaging 32.5 points and 12 rebounds as they first breezed past East London’s St Boanventure School 75-63.

They then hammered Northhampton 100-48 in the final to secure the title.

Six of that squad also propelled Cheshire Jets’ under 14s to victory in the National Club Championships in Sheffield.

The squad, who train at Bridgewater, remain undefeated for the season after beating hosts Sheffield Saints in the semi final.

They then went on to face Lewisham Thunder in a thrilling final, which they narrowly won by two points to round off a remarable end to the season for Warrington’s young basketballers.
