AN adventure playground has opened in Lymm complete with climbing walls, basket swings and a zip slide.

Playscape was unveiled at Ridgeway Grundy Park in the village on Saturday with a family fun day.

Specially designed for eight to 13-year-olds, the park has been built thanks to an £80,000 grant from Warrington Borough Council.

The residents living around the park have been heavily involved with ideas for the design of the new area.

Included is a basketball court, climbing wall, overhead rotator, basket swings, baked slide, a random climbing structure and zip slide.

The final make-up of the park was decided following a consultation exercise with children at primary schools across Lymm organised by Steve Towndrow and Kieran Walshe.

The youngsters discussed what they wanted to see at the park before plans were drawn up.

Mr Towndrow told Lymm Parish Council that it was important that it was the youngsters who will use the park, rather than residents, council officers and councillors, who decided on its make up.

Councillors are hoping children from across Lymm and not just the immediate Statham area, will be able to cycle to the park to use the facilities.

It is the latest park to come to Lymm after one off Stage Lane was unveiled three years ago.
