Police have issued a safety warning after metal was stolen from a pumping station in Woolston.

Thieves forced their way into the station on Manchester Ship Canal and tampered with electricity before stealing the metal.

PC Paul Stott, of Cheshire Police, said: “We would like to warn members of the public that they are not to enter station site under any circumstances.

"Tampering with the station electricity supply is extremely dangerous and could result in death or serious injury."

The incident took place on Thursday, August 23 between 11am and noon.

Anyone with information can call police on 101.
