ST Oswald’s were triumphant in the Challenge Cup final at Pierspoints thanks to a man-of-the-match performance from Neil Dolan.
His 21-10 victory over B Clarke was the highlight of a close encounter against Monks that ended 180-168.
Both sides won five head-to-heads apiece, so individual tallies counted when it came to dealing out the grand prize.
That was where Oswald’s had the edge with Nevins, Burlinson and Goodwin scoring enough chalks, despite losing, to help their side to an aggregate victory.
The heaviest defeat of the event was suffered by Oswald’s man D Wright, who lost 21-8 to K Bradbury, getting the eventual champions off to a poor start that was turned around by Dolan’s heroics in his rubber against B Clarke.
