THIS was the scene after a gas explosion ripped through the front window of a 92-year-old woman’s home on Cinnamon Lane, Fearnhead.

Despite the damage, the homeowner was not seriously hurt and was treated by paramedics with a hand injury before being taken to Warrington Hospital.

Four homes either side of the affected house were evacuated and Cinnamon Lane was closed while firefighters and gas engineers worked at the scene from 7.10am on Friday.

One resIdent said their mother had heard a loud bang whereas other neighbours said they did not hear anything until police officers were knocking on their door and could see fire engines rushing to the scene.

A spokesman said: “Staff from Warrington Borough Council are working with a structural engineer to assess the overall damage.”
