ROAD works are set to take place on two of the town’s worst-hit streets for pot holes.

Park Road in Great Sankey and Lodge Drive in Culcheth will each both be repaired by council bosses in March.

The two roads were badly damaged during the last two freezing winter snow and ice conditions.

Work will start at both sites on March 5 and they are expected to last about five weeks.

Chris Vobe, Labour campaigner, said the work was a victory for residents fed up by the state of the road.

He added: “This work is long overdue and much deserved for residents along Lodge Drive and the surrounding area.

“For years, we have had to suffer with a patchwork of pot holes that have left this part of the village looking unkempt and uncared for.”

Work on both sites will take place between 8.30am and 4.30pm on weekdays with council bosses keen to keep traffic moving.

The road will be closed in phases and letters will be sent to nearby residents and businesses.

The diversion route in Culcheth is Common Lane and Warrington Road.

Park Road in Great Sankey will be closed in phases from Barrow Hall Lane to Station Road.

The diversion route will be the A57 Liverpool Road and Lingely Green Avenue.

A spokesman for the council said: “The council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.”
