PHOTOCOPIERS are to be withdrawn from most of Warrington’s libraries.

Bosses say falling use and cost cutting has led them to take the copiers out of all libraries apart from the central one, on Museum Street.

Visitors can use scanners on computers to make any copies of documents in the future.

Clr Kate Hannon, (LAB – Orford) executive board member for leisure, community and culture at Warrington Borough Council, said: “Over recent months there has been a significant decline in the number of people using photocopying facilities in libraries and unfortunately this means that the machines are no longer cost effective.

“The council has therefore taken the decision to remove them from our libraries, with the exception of Warrington Central Library, where the level of usage has remained more consistent.

“It will still be possible for library users to make copies of documents using the scanner connected to the public access computers in each library and staff will be happy to help them with that.”
