Warrington Market have been receiving large orders as street party-goers prepare for the big day on Friday.

And souvenirs for relatives in America have also proved just as popular.

Terry Owens, from Butterworths stall on the market, has been selling tea towels with pictures of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

He said: “They have been really popular but I would guess that only 20 that I’ve sold will stay in this country.

“Everyone keeps buying them to send them over to friends and relatives in America.

“We’ve had some people come to the stall and just drop the tea towels straight into a jiffy bag ready to be put in the post.”

White Sports have been selling Union flag bunting with the faces of Prince William and Kate on as well as flags to attach to cars and hand flags for children to wave during the celebrations.

Pauline Jacks, stall assistant, said: “The hand flags have been really popular and quite a few people have bought bunting for street parties.”

Barney’s card stall has had to order red, white and blue balloons after the demand for ‘anything with a Union flag on it’ became so great. Ginette Chriscolig, who runs the stall, had taken a large order for flags, balloons and Royal Wedding party decorations on Tuesday morning for a street party for more than 100 people in Penketh.

The stall has been topping up stock every day as demand increases.

Shopper Maria Jones, from Great Sankey, said: “I’m stocking up on bunting and flags for our street party.

“It should be great if the sun is shining!”
