A BLITZ of graffiti that needs cleaning up will take place during the next three months.

Warrington Borough Council is launching the clean-up campaign and they need your help.

Bosses have decided to fund a two-strong team who will be out and about across the borough with a graffiti blitz machine.

Clr Graham Welborn, executive member for environment, said: "We are fortunate in that graffiti tends to be a localised problem, but it scars the neighbourhood and can be extremely offensive.

"Obviously, the team won't be able to reach everywhere, but they are going to give it their best shot, so do get in touch if you know of somewhere that needs cleaning up."

Current council policy is that resources are used to clean up graffiti on council maintained land and public places.

However, for this blitz, the team will also clean graffiti from private property and land.

The work will be start on August 14 and continue until October.

Members of the public can report areas that need blitzing and the team can visit the spots, assess what's needed and put a work programme together. The team is hoping to reach most areas but some will be inaccessible. And the Warrington Guardian will help.

Send us your pictures or details of the areas that need attention or call the council direct.
