POLICE based in Stockton Heath found themselves in a slippery situation after a diesel spillage in the station’s basement.
Officers based at the police station, on Grappenhall Road, were forced to uproot after problems with the central heating system started on Sunday.
Insp Gary McIntyre, Warrington South NPU, said: “It has not been closed permanently, it is an old central heating system and it is broken and needs replacing.
There is nothing that we can do about it but people can’t work in the police station until it is repaired.”
He said the police service will not be affected as residents can call at Arpley Street or at Lymm Police station on Danebank Road, where officers are temporarily based until the repairs are completed.
Voicemails are still being checked and people can still call the police on 0845 458 0000.
Insp McIntyre hopes the station will open today, Thursday.
