A SERVICE which offers families and young people advice has been awarded a top national award.
The council-run Families Information Service was given a Family First Award for its advice on childcare options, grants, play schemes and activities for youngsters up to the age of 19.
An assessor praised its accessibility and wide range of information offered face-to-face and by phone, e-mail and the internet.
Clr Sheila Woodyatt, executive board member for education, said: “My congratulations go to the team. They do a great job.”
