THE Friends of Culcheth Linear Park are raising money to restore the top path and create a wheelchair trail.

This will mean there is circular route suitable for wheelchairs, buggies and bikes.

Jack Delve, secretary of The Friends, said: “The park is well used by people and we want to keep it nice.

“Unless somebody does something, it will go into disrepair.”

They recently reopened the bridle path with a grant from Warrington Borough Council to drain excess water into a pond.

The friends group was given charity status in 2009, which means it needs to generate £5,000 a year.

The group raised funds to restore the bottom path, which is prone to flooding, last year.

It held a spooky quiz in The Pack Horse on Friday, October 15, and raised £300 and a Halloween fancy dress bag pack took place in Sainsburys on Saturday.

The group, which has more than 100 members, is also looking for new friends. Membership costs £5 a year.

For more information call the friends on 765064.
