GULLIVER’S has missed out on beating the record for the world’s largest Halloween gathering.

The Old Hall theme park called on families to don their spookiest outfits to beat the current Guinness World Record of 508 people gathered in full fancy dress in one place.

The attempt, which saw more than 500 people flock to the park, took place on Sunday and was followed by a fireworks display in the evening.

But the park missed out after a staggering 17,777 football fans turned up in scary costumes at a game in New Orlean.

A spokesman for Gulliver’s said: “We would like to say thank you to everyone who came along in fancy dress and who put so much effort in and made our Halloween celebrations very special.”
