FORMER Orford councillor Terry Whelan was honoured with a one minute’s silence by his colleagues at the Town Hall.
Councillors from all three political parties lined up to pay tribute to Terry and the service he had given the town over his 37 year tenure as a Labour councillor.
His fellow Orford councillor Mike Hannon led the tributes and talked of how Terry had never expected nor wanted any praise for the exceptional work that he did for the community and town.
Clr Sheila Woodyatt (CON – Lymm) said: “Terry was a gentleman in every sense of the word.”
While leader of the council Clr Ian Marks added his praise for the work Terry did as a councillor and said he was well respected by all.
Terry died aged 86 on October 24 and his funeral was held on Tuesday at St Stephen’s Church in Orford.
