A 47-YEAR-OLD man is being quizzed by detectives after allegedly stabbing a woman.
The victim sustained serious stab wounds at their home in Wavertree Avenue, Widnes, shortly after 7pm last night (Sunday).
The man was led away in handcuffs by police, after paramedics wheeled the injured woman into an ambulance
"There was blood on his hands and his clothes," said a witness, as around 40 neighbours watched the incident unfold.
The woman is in Whiston Hospital where her condition is described as 'serious'.
A Cheshire police spokesperson, said: "A man is continuing to help police with their enquiries. The condition of the woman remains the same."
