IN response to Jane Davis' letter (A waste of police time, Knutsford Guardian, June 7), I think that she has missed the whole point of the issue, which is not about parents dropping children off at school but the safety of the general public.

I am one of those people who has 'bought a house near a school.'

The school I live near is Yorston Lodge and I can assure Ms Davis that there is no problem with parents dropping their children off.

It is inconvenient - but that's all it is - no problem.

Mr Edgar has staggered school hours and this works very well.

We just set out a little earlier at busy times to compensate.

The police are actually monitoring dangerous parking on or near to the T junction at Bexton Road and St John's Road and on the zigzag lines outside the school gates.

(Yes, there are some people who actually park there).

Drivers often park right on the corners and sometimes across them into St John's Road.

This area is very busy at times with students walking to the high school, families going to the local primary schools, people going to the hospital etc. The traffic becomes very congested. Drivers need access to Bexton Court and the hospital.

Visibility of the road is practically zero sometimes.

There is an accident waiting to happen and I pray that it never does because emergency vehicles will not stand a chance of getting anywhere near.

People who live near schools are like people who live anywhere.

We have families too.

We actually care about the safety of others.

If police time is being wasted - it is the careless and mindless parking by individuals (not necessarily parents) who are causing it.
