WIZARDS head coach Eddie Harris is convinced his team can enjoy a successful campaign despite their exit from rugby league's Powergen Challenge Cup.

An absorbing see-saw second-round battle with National League Three champions Bradford Demons was only settled six minutes from time at Wilderspool on Saturday.

Harris said: "We gave a great account of ourselves and to be beaten by two points is very hard to take, but we know that if we continue to perform at the level we have shown in this game then we should have a very successful season.

"We had a couple of chances to win the game but it wasn't to be. We will bounce back though over the next few weeks and our aim now is to win our group in the Northern Rail Cup, and that is what we will be focusing on in training."

Wizards, who will not play again until March 5 at Dewsbury Celtic in the Northern Rail Cup, opened the scoring against Bradford with Danny Shaw and Chris Mellor touching down.

The visitors hit back to go 12-8 ahead but Andy Addison crossed and Mellor's conversion put his side in the lead.

Bradford regained the advantage but Wizards refused to lie down and Paul Berry's converted try put them back in the lead at 20-18.

The final twist came six minutes from time when a quick play-the-ball by Welsh international Jason Lee paved the way for winger Jamie Brentley to win the match for Bradford.
