FIND out how the country's first custom built chemical works were founded at West Bank in a fascinating talk.
Arthur Townsend is giving a lecture on 'Chemical Manufacturing at West Bank during the 19th Century', at 7.30pm on Thursday, February 9.
The development was the brainchild of eminent businessman John Hutchinson.
The talk not only describes the manufacturing processes carried out in West Bank, but also shows what it was like to live and work in the chemical town in those days.
All are welcome and free parking is available.
The event is hosted by Friends of Catalyst. Admission to non members is £1, including tea and biscuits.
