Union slams Asda for short changing staff

THE GMB union has blasted Asda for not giving bonuses to more staff.

It says staff will lose out on £12m - which will instead be added to the company's estimated annual profit of £650m.

The union says the decision was taken because Asda had not met its yearly profit target.

The GMB said the previous year's profit bonus went to nearly all the staff and averaged £264 per person.

It said this year's bonuses would only go to 40,000 staff.

Asda has stores in Birchwood, Gemini Retail Park and at the Cockedge Centre.
