WARRINGTON Bank Quay station needs an urgent revamp and looks like a demonic Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, a Lymm architect says.
According to architects Randle White, based on Church Road in Lymm, the station needs an urgent revamp.
James Randle, director of the company, said an overhaul is long overdue and is calling for better pedestrian access from the station to Palmyra Square.
He added: "At the moment it looks like a demonic version of Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
"The design of the station has not aged well.
"It's a drab, depressing corner of the town and needs a massive overhaul.
"Warrington should be looking at Piccadilly station in Manchester for its inspiration.
"They turned a dark, dangerous station into a modern, bright breezy space. Warrington's architecture and public buildings should be something to be proud of, not an eyesore."
