THREE new additions to Warrington Town's squad have lifted their performance levels ahead of a trip to Belper Town on Saturday.

Town, who also face Rossendale United at Cantilever Park on Tuesday, kick-off 7.45pm, have brought in Dougie Pitts, Michael Ellison and Phil Howard in the last seven days, while two players have left as Glenn Walker carries out an early-season shake-up.

Persistence paid off as Walker brought Pitts - a 22-year-old right back from Chorley - to the club after a two-year chase, and both he and Ellison - a central midfielder captured from Marine - made impressive debuts in Town's 2-0 win against Ossett on Saturday.

Former Blackburn Academy graduate Howard, who is 21 and can play on the left of midfield or as a striker, has joined from Congleton and featured in Town's 1-1 draw with high-flying Mossley on Tuesday.

But Walker has released Marvin Molyneaux, while Lee Webster has been allowed to leave after four years at the club.

Walker said: "We'd like to thank Lee for his services, we appreciate what he's done here and understand that he wants to play first-team football."

Walker's men moved up to 10th in the UniBond League First Division after Tuesday's draw with Mossley.

Gary Randles put Town ahead in the 22nd minute but Rhodri Giggs, the younger brother of Manchester United's Ryan, levelled matters in the first minute of the second period.

Walker said: "It was a very good performance and now we need to keep the match tempo going."

Town produced their best performance of the season to defeat Ossett at Cantilever Park on Saturday.

Walker's side took the lead in the fifth minute when James Featherstone fired home a rebound after Phil Mitchell had cut in from the left and forced the Ossett keeper into a save.

Town were always comfortable from there on in, and Graeme Mitchell extended their lead in the 63rd minute when he hooked in Featherstone's cross from close range.
