RESIDENTS will learn about future plans for the town when Middlewich Vision puts forward its recommendations at a meeting tonight, Wednesday.

Members of the public are invited to attend the gathering at the Community Church, Brooks Lane, from 7pm to hear proposals being made to the partnership following a series of public workshops conducted last month to establish how the town should be regenerated for the future.

Earmarked projects include reviving the local market by relocating it to the newly developed Bull Ring and carrying out a town centre study to identify patterns of shopping.

Reforming the Chamber of Trade in the town and supporting businesses by providing capital grants and training will also be high on the agenda.

Members of the environment sub-committee are hoping to gain approval to improve gateways into Middlewich, with the emphasis on the Town Wharf redevelopment. Improving facilities along the Trent and Mersey Canal will also be considered.

Community issues such as the growing traveller communities, bridging the gap between the elderly and the town youth, and plans to open a leisure centre and swimming pool will also be highlighted.
