A WINSFORD teenager has been issued with an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) and warned she will be sent to prison if she breaches any of its conditions.

Samantha Morgan, 15, of Bramhall Close, will be subject to the ASBO until she is 18 after magistrates decided to put an end to her intimidating behaviour.

The girl was issued with the ASBO in Northwich Youth Court on Wednesday after magistrates heard evidence of how Morgan had made the lives of residents a misery.

Chairman of the bench Don Beckett said: "If you breach any of the conditions the only sanction we can impose is a prison sentence."

Derek McDonald, defending, told magistrates that Morgan is committed to changing her ways.

He said: "She can't derive a lot of credit from her behaviour.

"Her mother is here and it's fair to say that she has done her best to control her and we are not taking issue with the ASBO."

The ASBO has been welcomed by police officers who hope it will improve the lives of many residents.

PC Jason Murray, from Winsford Community Action Team, said: "Anti-social behaviour orders are a key tool in our efforts.

"I hope that from this result Samantha realises that her behaviour has been totally unacceptable and that she must have more respect for the people around her and the town in which she lives.

"It is also reassuring to the victims and witnesses in this case, some of whom faced intimidation, to know that they are protected under the terms of the order.

"My colleague PC Hickman and I would like to express our thanks to these people for their co-operation and courage in coming forward in what has been a long and complex investigation."

Nicola Mankee, police ASBO coordinator, said: "Lots of work is going on behind the scenes each day to identify and deal with the problems people tell us about and we will continue doing this so the minority of people who are causing misery to others get the message that they will not be tolerated."
