POLICE are reassuring worried townpeople after a Winsford man was stabbed.

The 30-year-old man was hurt a week last Monday as he cut through an alley between Well Street and Geneva Road.

But yesterday, Tuesday, Insp Mike Caton said police had completed their inquiries, would not be charging anyone and were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

He said: "People can rest assured. They do not need to be afraid. We are confident there will be no repetition of a smiliar incident."

The victim was not seriously hurt in the incident but spent a night in hospital and was then released.
