Bristol Rovers 2 - Crewe 0

AN unchanged Crewe side made their first ever visit to the new home of Bristol Rovers, the Memorial Ground hoping to continue their recent run of success.

They created chances and could have scored in their very first attack but Mark Rivers failed with the attempt. The interval was reached with a blank scoreline, the game frequently halted by an over fussy match referee.

The game turned in favour of the home side in the 59th minute when a long shot by on loan striker Cureton caught Taylor just off his line and it sailed into the top corner.

Chances still came for Crewe and Macauley hit the bar and headed just over the top with a clear goal to aim at. Andy Gurney settled the match with another long range effort in the 82nd minute which again beat Taylor.

Colin Little came on to add some pace with ten minutes left but the home defence held out to win by a two goal margin.

Attendance 6211, Referee R Styles.
