IF Mr Richard Kane of Frodsham had spent his time looking at the arguments for restoring the Sankey Canal, rather than in digging up insults, his letter of last week would have made better reading.
He would have learned, for instance, that the money to be spent on restoring the Canal is an investment in this area. It will bring jobs, restore and improve the environment, provide leisure opportunities for old and young, and put back into everyday use the first canal of the Industrial Revolution. Very little local money will be spent - Europe, the Lottery, Central Government Schemes will be the first ports of call for funding.
