TWO children's gifts have been banned from Woolworth's stores because of their potential danger to children.

Cheshire Trading Standards officers have served a Suspension Notice on Woolworths, prohibiting the sale of a luxury pig hot water bottle and cover and Percy Pig with strawberry soap.

Tests show that the goods failed to comply with safety regulations.

The company has now withdrawn the products from sale while they complete their own investigations and have agreed to take back the products if consumers return them to the store.

The cord on the hot water bottle could cause strangulation and the stopper which has no safety catch, is small enough to be swallowed.

The red netting on the cuddly pig is also hazardous.

Trading Standards officers are concerned that many of the suspect gifts may well have been sold for Christmas presents and already wrapped up and put away for the festive season.
