HEARTBROKEN owners may soon take comfort in giving their beloved cats, dogs or even snakes a dignified send off if plans for a unique cemetery go ahead.

David Duxbury is hoping to open a special pet cemetery and crematorium near Glazebrook Farm, Glazebrook, to give Warrington residents the chance to say their final goodbyes.

Mr Duxbury said: "We have been running a similar facility in Leyland, near Preston, for eight-and-a-half years and it has proved very popular.

"Warrington and the surrounding area does not have anything like this so if the plans go ahead, we will be able to improve our service for the North Cheshire, Manchester and Merseyside.

"We deal with domestic pets offering cremation and burial. We quite often get unusual animals like snakes and people even ask for their goldfish to be cremated."

Mr Duxbury even offers a short service for the proceeding in which tearful owners can say a few words of rememberance.

Plans have been submitted to Warrington's plans committee and the scheme is currently being considered.

Mr Duxbury said: "If we are given the go-ahead, we will hopefully be open for business early next year."
