FOUR Warrington youngsters were frogmarched out of a McDonalds store and robbed by two youths who claimed they were carrying a gun.

The teenagers' terrifying ordeal began on Saturday as they sat in the Stamford New Road branch of the burger chain in Altrincham.

Two youths approached the Warrington boys - three who live in Latchford and one in Lymm - and told them they were carrying a gun.

The four boys did not see a weapon but they claim that the shape of a gun was visible in one of the robber's pockets and his pocket was sagging.

Thomas Whelan, Michael O'Dea and their two friends were forced to leave the fast-food restaurant and board a tram at Altrincham Metrolink and travel to Dane Road station in Sale.

The youngsters, all aged 13 or 14, were then taken down a narrow alleyway near a canal and were robbed of £60.

Thomas Whelan, a Lymm High School pupil, said: "It was really scary when the lads came up to us.

"When we were taken down the alleyway our voices were trembling because we were so afraid."

And Thomas' father, Robert, said: "I am horrified that this could have happened. The experience has definitely affected all the lads. Thomas hasn't been sleeping as well as he normally does since the attack."

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that investigations are continuing and they are now studying video footage of Altrincham town centre.

One of the robbers is described as a white male, aged between 14 and 16, 5ft 5ins and of a skinny build with short black hair. He was wearing a wool hat and black jeans.

His accomplice was a white male, aged 16, 5ft 4ins, with a spotty complexion. He was wearing a Manchester United Football Club baseball cap, white and grey 'Reebok' jumper and blue jeans.
