DRIVER Louise Hatchard, of Callands, says the traffic is terrible. She blames the retail park for congestion in Callands. Bridgefoot, she says, is another congestion point which can cause chaos. She said the new traffic lights will make things worse.

Jeanette Dixon, of Orford, said: "The traffic in Warrington is ridiculous. As for the Winwick Road roundabout, the backlog of traffic means more people are leaving the main roads and trying to get through the back streets of Orford."

Grant Robinson, of Warrington, says Callands must be the worst place in the world to get to at weekends. "Whenever there is a problem on the motorway, the whole town comes to a standstill."

Kath Fell, of Warrington, used to work in a garage and said customers said Warrington town centre was one of the worst places in the country to get through.

David Bandell, who lives in Westbrook, said that over the weekend it can take him 30 to 40 minutes to get over the bridge at Callands on to Winwick Road. "Town centre traffic can be just as bad down Chester Road, caused by all the traffic converging on Bridgefoot."

Jeanette Bonnell described the traffic as: "Horrendous - every rush hour and all over the weekend," she said: "The problem is that the traffic all tries to get out of the main roads and causes blockages and hold ups all over town."

Motorist Brian Charles said: "Warrington is congested. The new lights have not made any difference."

But Derek Carter disagreed: "The new lights are better and easier," he said.

Debby Jordan Stephenson commented: "From Sankey there is only one way into town .But the new lights are better now there is another lane."

But Ray Rustage said: "The traffic is disgusting, they just move one bottle neck somewhere else. The new lights are worse than ever and the complex does not help."

Jason Parry says the main problem area is pulling on to Wilson Patten Street opposite Mr. Smiths. The new lights are no problem but the one way is a pain."

Danny Hesketh said: "I don't think the planners have a clue what they are doing. Do any of them live in Warrington?"
