ANOTHER slow start and too many errors saw Rylands go 8-2 down by half-time.

Grim determination saw the home side claw their way back with a Colin Robinson try, converted by Daniels.

A dubious try for Rose Bridge put the visitors in front but Rylands replied with a try from stand off Williams, converted by Daniels who got a penalty in the last few minutes.

Good goalkicking from Daniels and overall a good win with best performances from Williams, Daniels and Jeff Robinson.

Trafford Borough 14

LAPORTE took the points in this evenly contested Division Four NWC League fixture.

It took a good team performance to hit back, with Trafford going into an 8-0 lead.

Laporte reduced this lead with two well taken penalties from Chris Douglas. Trafford went further in front but Gary Thornburn's try just before the break made it 12-8 to Trafford.

The only points in the next 30 minutes were through a penalty for Trafford and two from Laporte as both teams cancelled eachother out.

It took a superb try by Thornburn to clinch the points.

Parr Hare & Hounds 22

Latchford Albion 24

HARE and Hounds started well and were rewarded with a try but this was soon cancelled out when Byron crashed over and Mellor's goals put Albion in front.

Hare and Hounds hit back before Flower, Appleby and Groarke put Albion 18-14 in front at half-time.

The home side scored two quick tries to give them a 22-18 lead before the try of the game, scored by Andy Wood. Mellor's goal ensured the points.

This week Albion are at home to the unbeaten Leigh Miners, 2.30pm kick-off.

Holker Pioneers 31

Woolston Rovers A 30

ROVERS were leading 25-30 with only seconds to go when Pioneers scored between the posts and kicked the goal.

Tries for Rovers by Wilf Rattigan 3, Paul Fiddler, Gary Whaley and David Hudd, who kicked five goals.

Best for Rovers were Rattigan and Whaley.

Woolston B 20

Thatto Heath A 17

THIS top-of-the-table clash reached all expectations.

Topham beat three tackles to score but Woolston lost possession through unforced errors, resulting in two unconverted tries for Thatto. Woolston were 13-6 down at half-time

In the second half, first class work by the forwards brought tries through Davidson, Brown and Stephens. Hickling kicked a penalty goal.

Best for Woolston were Hickling, Davidson, McKean, Paul Norman and Topham.

Wigan St. Judes 5

MAN of the match Simon Cowap had a personal 22 point haul, including a hat-trick, in a game which saw eight tries and five goals.

Further tries followed from Steve Brunt, Andy Addison, Darren Geritas, Warren Ayres, Mike Briggs, plus a splendid 85 metre sprint for the line by centre Neil Callon to ensure Woolston maintained their bid for the National Youth League Championship.

Woolston play Eccles at home on Sunday, meet at Bennett's Rec at 10.15am.
