WARRINGTON Wolves have broken the record for their youngest ever signing - for the second time in two weeks.

Wigan St. Judes centre John Whalley, aged 12, breaks the previous record held by David Orange by just 13 days.

The pacey youngster was being chased by a number of Super League clubs, including champions St. Helens and his own team Wigan.

Warrington's chief scout Jim Reader says: "We are delighted to have him on board. He is the hardest hitting centre I have seen at this age group for a long time."

The Wolves have also signed 12-year-old Ian Stephenson from Crosfields.

He played in the Warrington Town team which won at Wembley in 1995 and is a prolific tryscorer with electrifying speed.

He attends Penketh High School and lives in Great Sankey.

Reader adds: "This lad has pace to spare!"
