OLD Town House have struggled without a success in both Monday and Friday Greenall Tetley Darts League programmes, but they had cause for jubilation after winning the first round Team Charity Knockout game at Adelphi Vaults. Tony Cunningham sealed matters with two legs remaining.

Padgate Cons brought the unbeaten Farmers Arms to earth with a 6-3 success and Wheatsheaf A, with Bernard Hill hitting 16, easily sent Coach House out of the competition in spite of Tony Murphy's 14.

Dave Wooldridge had an 11 darter for British Rail in their romp over Pierpoints. Imperial had their entry into the next round sewn up at half-time at Kings Club and Hawthorne survived early shocks at St. Benedicts.

Penketh S&S notched a 6-3 win at Causeway but Woolston RBL claimed their match against Alford Sports due to non-appearance of their opponents, from whom a donation to the Charity Fund is expected.

In Monday's league games, Imperial flattered early on only to deceive at Hawthorne. Terry Sheen sealed the points for Black Bear against Wheatsheaf.

Ron Cooke took the last leg for Manx Arms and gained an honourable draw at Coach House in a game highlighted by 14 from Derek Bibby and a drawn leg in 14 between Brian Watson and Tony Monks.

Cheshire Cheese won at British Rail, Simon Moriarty's 14 only bettered by Dave Greenall's 13 for Cheese. Tom Hunter had 11 for Padgate Cons as they romped in at Albion. Steve Smith hit 11 for Royal Oak Branch to wrap up the points against Gas Social, who were best served by Mike Addison's 15.

A fine 14 by Frank Bates against Penketh S&S enabled Farmers Arms to snatch a draw and preserve their unbeaten record. Mike Astbury sealed a win for Poplars against King and Queen, which was dedicated to former captain and secretary Jim Chadwick whose funeral was held earlier in the day.

Bulls Head drew with Penketh Cons when A. Silvester hit a 16 in the final leg. Howley pushed Rylands to the limit before E. Jones won the last leg to take the points. Eric Spencer and Bill Smallwood notched 15s as Warrington Town beat Causeway and as St. Benedicts hammered Woolston Legion. G. Jeremiah, 12, was their best winner.
