MUM of two Kathy Byrne has come home with silverware in her first ever karate competition.
The 34-year-old, who is a full-time student at St. Helens College, Newton Campus, was a runner-up in the British Karate Association National Championships in Birmingham.
Her proud second placed finish came in the Kumite section.
