A NEWTON psychic thought he had landed himself the challenge of a lifetime - sorting out stricken team Manchester City.

But Raymond Castrogiovanni, of Laurel Avenue, found himself locked outside the ground where many a manager has failed.

Raymond, aged 41, who hit the headlines after burying crystals in Winsford United's pitch, breaking their losing streak, had been asked by a national newspaper to turn his hand to fallen giants City.

But when he turned up at Maine Road he discovered the team were not interested in his help.

Raymond said: "The newspaper contacted me after I helped Winsford and asked if I could do the same thing for Manchester City.

"I arranged to meet them at the club's ground, but when I arrived the team were not interested and we were not allowed inside.

"I had no contact with the club and thought they were all for it, it was only when I got there I realised the club had not agreed.

"Since I buried the crystals at Winsford they have won 10 out of 13 games. I think the same sort of treatment could have worked quite well for Manchester City, even if only as a placebo.

"If the team change their mind, I'm quite willing to help them out."
