SCHOOLCHILDREN, special needs pupils and college students have joined forces to create a special garden.

The garden has been created and designed by Newton College students, with help from St Peter's Primary, St Mary's Infant and Penkford Technology schools.

Co-ordinator, Joan Deveny, said: "The garden is intended to act as an outdoor classroom for care students to work with special needs pupils.

"It has been specially designed to provide access to disabled children. There are also special aids for blind children, with sections where they can touch, hear and feel the plants.

She added: "The garden has given the college a good opportunity to work closely with the local community."
