WINSFORD United's board held an emergency general meeting on Monday night to discuss the club's financial problems.
Poor attendances, lack of sponsorship and lack of help in general were the main points discussed in what was described as "a very intense meeting."
Vice-chairman Mark Loveless said: "It's really a case of how much people are prepared to put into the place, it can only go so far.
"Last year we had money from the Football Trust, the FA Cup run and from the sale of Wayne Collins, so we had a windfall.
"But this year we only have the money that comes through the gate and it can't keep going. There's massive problems."
Loveless also admitted communication problems with the town council over land needed for developments to Barton Stadium.
On the field, meanwhile, the Blues have been rocked by the news that skipper Mark Came could be out for up to six weeks after a cartilage operation on Friday.
He has missed the past four games after playing through the pain barrier in the recent win over Leigh.
Came said: "I felt it in the second half and it just swelled up after the game.
"I'm seeing the specialist again this Friday, but I could be looking at anything from three to six weeks."
Came joins David Clegg in the recovery room as manager Dalton Steele still struggles to get his squad fully fit.
The Blues host Emley on Saturday in the UniBond Premier Division and face Altrincham at home on Tuesday in the first round of the Cheshire Senior Cup.
