Every time she looked out of her window, the sign glared at her - she even grew a hedge to hide it.
So when the wind blew down St Cross Church's noticeboard, Mrs Ward was pleasantly pleased.
But now it could be back - and bigger.
St Cross Church is currently seeking permission for a new 8ft by 4ft noticeboard to advertise events.
Last week, local councillors also expressed concern at its size - and feared it could distract drivers in Mobberley Road.
"They'll probably end up in the churchyard sooner than they thought," said Clr Beth Page.
Clr Bill Davies agreed, adding: "The only objection I have is its size."
But Keith Hewitt, who lives opposite the church, said he didn't mind how big it was.
"I think that anything promoting Christianity is a good thing and should be allowed," said Mr Hewitt.
Mrs Ward, 51, said she didn't have a problem with the church. "Just the noticeboard," she said.
