Two seats are up for election on Thursday, May 6, in Newton West and Newton East and it promises to be an interesting fight between the three main parties - Labour, Liberal Democrats and Conservatives.
Newton East councillor Leon McGuire is switching wards and replacing Sharron Whitehead as the Labour candidate for Newton West. He will be standing against Conservative Catherine Perks and his neighbour Lib-Dem Linda Thornhill.
Attention will be focused on Newton East where Lib-Dem Peter Astbury will be bidding to join his two colleagues in representing the ward. He faces challenges from Labour's Leon McGuire and the Conservative's Stephen Holt.
