I am proud to have been selected to fight this election for the Liberal Democrats. They have a long tradition in Newton of campaigning on behalf of local people.

"I am campaigning for a halt to the continued development of the green field sites in our town - we have lost too many. I plan to work closely with the police in the fight to make Newton a safer place to live.

"I will press for improvements and modernisation of our council houses that are damp and without proper heating.

"I will campaign to improve public transport and reduce traffic congestion. People don't want heavy lorries using roads that were never constructed for that sort of traffic.

"I will give as much support as possible to voluntary groups who give so much help and support to many people.

"I would like the chance to serve the community where I live. I share the concern so many residents have about the future of our town. I will be a strong voice for our community.
