NIGEL Gleghorn has landed the experienced goalkeeper he has been chasing by signing Ronnie Sinclair from Leek Town.

The 35-year-old is a veteran of almost 200 Football League appearances with clubs including Bristol City, Stoke City, Halifax Town and, most recently, Chester City.

Sinclair moved down a division in time for the 1-1 draw with Matlock Town on Saturday, a result good enough to keep Witton top of UniBond Division One by just a point.

In recent weeks, Gleghorn has made no secret of the fact that he is looking for a goalkeeper to enable previous first choice Phil McGing to have a rest.

The manager feels that it is the right time for the young keeper, who has made a few costly errors in recent games, to take time out and get his game together, free of pressure.

However, Gleghorn has stressed that McGing is still part of his plans, and is confident he will become a good goalkeeper when his game develops.

After the boss's call for a big crowd to cheer his side his side on, only 317 came to Wincham Park on Saturday.

However, matters away from home are now of far more importance, and Witton have two to really test their championship mettle this week.

On Saturday, Albion travel to Eastwood Town for their latest league fixture (3pm), as they look for their first win in four games..

Then Accrington Stanley, whose position as the division's top scorers was dislodged by Witton recently, provide stiff opposition at the Crown Ground on Tuesday (7.30pm).
