Barnton 4

Rylands 1

Unibond Division One

Saturday, November 11

ADAM Foy showed he intends to make the most of his first team opportunity with two goals in Barnton's 4-1 win over Rylands on Saturday.

The teenager opened his account on 11 minutes when Gareth Langley and Les Miranda combined to set up Foy for a chance which he despatched from a narrow angle.

Although the home side dominated the first half, Rylands sprung a surprise with a 34th minute equalizer. Barnton failed to clear after a series of corners and Colin Jefferies flicked a cross past Derrick Fortune into the corner of the net.

It only took Barnton four minutes to regain the lead. Langley's trickery forced Rylands to concede a free-kick just two yards in from the touch line. Adrian Brodigan stepped up and his low left foot shot eluded everybody in a crowded box to curl inside the far post.

The result was all but secure on 58 minutes when Foy completed his brace. A long ball found Miranda and he raced to the line before delivering a superb cross which was forced in at the back post by the youngster.

A well-worked free-kick brought Richie Mile the fourth two minutes from the end when Brodigan found him in space on the edge of the box to fire into the roof of the net.

Mark Emmerson's men hope to continue their run of form in the league at Pilkington this Saturday (2.15pm).
