TATTON MP Martin Bell was among a number of dignitaries evacuated from Chester Cathedral, last Saturday - after a bomb alert.
The whole city was brought to a standstill as sniffer dogs were sent into the 900-year-old building.
The drama began on Saturday morning when cathedral staff reported an overnight burglary.
It came hours before a service to welcome the newly appointed Bishop of Birkenhead.
With so many high profile dignitaries expected, police were taking no chances and minutes before the service, everyone was evacuated.
And shortly after the evacuation a huge explosion was heard - but it was only a cannon set off to mark the two minutes Armistice Day silence.
